MINERVA A failed two-point conversion in the fourth quarter was the difference as the Warriors defeated Minerva, 20-19.
Troy Summers scored on a 10-yard run for Minerva in the fourth to cut West Branch's lead to 20-19. Instead of kicking the extra point to tie it, the Lions opted for a two-point conversion and failed on it.
Minerva also missed an extra point in the second quarter after a 3-yard touchdown run by Clint Ford.
Both teams opened with a touchdown in the first. Minerva scored first on a 5-yard run from Summers and West Branch followed after Warrior quarterback Mike Smith hit Chad Butcher for a 22-yard touchdown pass.
Minerva's top rusher, Summers, finished with 190 yards on 18 carries. West Branch's Eric Bates had 5 receptions for 47 yards.
